Required: ALA-accredited MLS; two to five years of library experience; strong customer-service orientation; excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; personal computer expertise; ability to work well independently and collaboratively. Preferred: Experience with Innovative Interfaces Inc.(III) software; experience with Summon or another discovery service interface; and academic library experience.

This is a 12-month (July–June) faculty status appointment reporting to the Library Director. Salary and faculty rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Evaluation of credentials will begin May 7, 2012 and continue until the position is filled. MSSU is an E-verify participating and AA/EOE employer.

XC User Interface

Based on the Drupal content management system, it offers such features as faceted browsing, display of search words in context, relevancy ranking, and more.

Job Announcement: Systems Librarian, Forest Park, GA


LAC Group seeks a professional Systems Librarian to implement and start-up an integrated library system (ILS) for our government client located in Forest Park, GA, outside of Atlanta.   This will be a full-time position for 6 months to a year of service working with library software and information to get the newly acquired Sirsi/Dynix Symphony ILS system up and running.   This position requires someone with a Secret Clearance (or higher), or one who can attain clearance with a thorough background check.  This position is subject to award.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Have management or technical experience in the areas of analysis, evaluation, planning, design, development, implementation and support of complex programs, primarily working with Integrated Library Systems (Sirsi/Dynix Symphony)).
• Experience in planning and overseeing large-scale software implementations or technical programs
• Has knowledge of library techniques, systems and procedures with some knowledge of sources of reference on bibliographical material. 
• Experience in the analysis, design, development, installation or support of routine computer software programs in broad multi-user areas such as: acquisition/development of systems and equipment, library systems; archival systems, knowledge and information management;
• Must have previous experience working with Sirsi/Dynix Symphony ILS, or similar, particularly in the areas of implementation

The Douglas County Libraries, nationally ranked #1 in the nation for its size in Hennen's American Public Library Rating Index is seeking an innovative, self- starter and committed Integrated Library System Administrator with primary responsibility for administering, developing, and supporting the Library's Horizon integrated library system (ILS).  In addition to developing all the features of the ILS,  writing code/scripts to interface with APIs, and developing other code such as JavaScript, the ILS Administrator helps to ensure that the Library's Web services as they relate to the ILS are patron friendly and easily accessible.

As a member of the IT Department, the position reports to the Associate Director of IT and is part of the infrastructure team and works closely with the other IT teams, as well as other library colleagues, patrons, and community partners to provide access to information, experiences and materials that support and enrich people's lives.
Required qualifications include:
·         A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other related discipline
·         3+ years progressively responsible experience with library automation systems (ILS) or other major database systems (system administration, ability to create custom reports).
·         Knowledge of online tools used for collaborative development and project management.
·         Experience with library cataloging practices and library practices and procedures (collections and technical services, circulation, reference, in-depth understanding of MARC formats, AACR2, etc.).
·         Extensive experience with SQL or a similar database reporting and modification language, and with RDBMS (pref. Sybase, MS SQL, MYSQL) administration.
·         Proficiency in server management including Linux/Unix administration, shell scripting, web and Java server administration, Windows server management; and other programming or SQL/report languages experience.

Desired qualifications include:
·         Experience administering the SirsiDynix Horizon system.
·         Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution
·         Experience working with HTML, XML, metadata, XSL, Java or JavaScript.
·         Knowledge of Open Source Technologies and Tools

Salary Range: $4,074.98 - $5,702.56 Monthly
